Saturday Spam-fest! *lots of pics*

Sorry for the inactivity lately, I've been getting ready to move into a new spiffy apartment! I've got the big move tomorrow, then after that I should be getting into a better rhythm for posting. However, I still wanted to show you what I've been doing lately, because even if I'm quiet on here, the nails are still gonna be colorful.

Layla Cloudy Violet, three coats over one coat of Aquabase. This is what I wanted China Glaze LOL to be, good color, big holo flame. I like.

These were the nails that I did for my first LARPing adventure where I played as a wizard. The base is OPI Paris Couture for Sure, four coats, and then the swirls are painted on with acrylic paint. The stars are from a little Nail Art jar I got from Five Below that had these and green cutout stars. This mani lasted pretty well considering we were very active on the field of battle!

This mani is four coats of Essie Turquoise and Caicos and a new Rainbow Honey polish called Sakura Matsuri. Bah, I did not like the formula on T&C, it was still streaky at four coats. The application might have been better if it had been thinned out. I like the Rainbow Honey on top though, very delicate but colorful. I see lots of possibility for this color over pastels and deep colors like grey and black. I love the flower glitters in this!

Butter London Knackered! I've been waffling on this color since it was released the beginning of this year. I'm so glad I picked this up during the Butter London BOGO sale! The formula is okay, but pretty watery. I foresaw the definite possibility that this polish could turn into a frosty glittery mess because of the metallic shimmer and holo glitter, but I actually like the combination! The holo wasn't too obvious, except in bright light, and the multichrome is pretty subtle too. This could be a good or bad thing depending on your tastes. Now be prepared for entirely too many pictures!

Finger Paints Plum Startled is another polish I couldn't make up my mind about. I have a toooon of purple polishes, but this one isn't too dupey to anything else in my stash. I ended up liking this color a lot, even if my first mani was a fail and I had to do a total redo. I think the bright purple and indigo shimmer against the dusty wine purple base is just super gorgeous. I think Plum Startled also makes a good transition color from Summer to Fall. This was four coats I believe.

 The gorgeous sparkle in this REALLY comes out in the sun. Check out how pretty!

Now this is a random layering I did the other day using a jelly sandwich technique with Revlon Royal and a blue Quirius glitter polish the has red, blue and gold micro glitter. I loved this mani because it reminded me of superhero/Superman themed colors.

Revlon Over the Moon and Piggy Polish Galaxy

Hello all! I'm a little behind on posting, so let me tell you about a little gem that I picked up at Ulta on clearance. I remember originally seeing these Revlon Nail Art funky french duos at Rite Aid and being mesmerized by the gorgeous combinations of different glassfleck and creme colors. They were 7.99 however, and I said eff that nonsense. Fast forward to last week at Ulta, and I see this gorgeous mermaid-y duochrome color attached to a dainty pink with a 3.99 clearance tag and said that's for me!

Another thing about me, I have a teeerrriible weakness for these types of blue. Revlon Tidal Wave is very similar to this color, and so is China Glaze Deviantly Daring. But I did a comparison on my nail wheel, and Deviantly Daring is way more brush strokey and a little lighter. This polish also applied waaaay easier than DD, which bubbled like crazy, this one applied nice and smooth/

Here is three coats of the blue chrome side of Over the Moon with one coat of Poshe topcoat.

And now with Piggy Polish Garden Galaxy! I hate layering glitters over metallics and chromes because it inevitably looks like the glitter sinks into the polish and makes dents. But I still think the combination is pretty.

Revlon Moon Candy Orbit

ARRRGGHHHH! So beautiful!

Say whhaaaa??? More easy to find drugstore flakie polishes??? That's right, Revlon has released a line of dual ended polishes, Moon Candy polishes, featuring a thick, shard-like flakie side in a sheer base, and a super pigmented dark polish on the other side. I only picked up one of these because I don't really dig the shard-like flakies, they're way harder to work with than regular flakies. However, I've been searching for a purple/blue flakie for forever, and HAD to have this. I even like how it turned out with the dark purple base it comes with!

I loved the formula on the dark purple polish this duo comes with. It's a smooooth pigmented deep grapey purple that could have been a one coater, but I used two for maximum evenness. Then I did a quick dry top coat and then used about two coats of the flakie side on top.

Orbit features purple, blue, and aqua/green colored shards. These flakes are way thicker and pointier than the flakes in polishes like Essie Shine of the Times, and are also way more sparse. To apply them I just sorta swirled the brush in the bottle like I would in any shapey type glitter, and it worked fine. I brushed on the first coat and then dabbed on the second coat to get better coverage of flakes. After letting it dry for a minute I just pressed down some of the pointy shards that were sticking up.

And then toooons of topcoat! I did two coats of Gelous, then one coat of Seche Vite. Unfortunately, it was still bumpy the next morning, so I added another coat of Gelous and another coat of Seche. The result made it as smooth as glass! And the intensity of the blues and purples in the flakes was just sooo gorgeous. I totally love this polish even if it is a pain in the butt to apply.

How bout some dots??

Mmmm. Dippin Dots. *cough* Anyways. I've got a couple spotted manis for you today. First up is a combination that reminded me of mint chocolate chip icecream. Man I love icecream. I used OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know? as the base. Beeeautiful formula. Smooth like buttah. This swatch is two coats, then a coat of Seche Vite on top. I used China Glaze Refresh-mint for the dots. Apparently I didn't give the dots enough time to dry, so you can see there was a little streaking. Still liked it though. Try to ignore all the bubbles and imperfections please :).

After all this dot poppin', I thought I'd do a bit of a palette cleanser. I've had Revlon Starry Pink as an untried forever and a day. I love that Revlon is stepping it up with their colors and glitters the last year. Yes... I suppose a lot of them are dupes of more expensive brands like Deborah Lippmann and Chane, but I'm fine with that so long as I have access to these fun shades! Starry Pink has been relabeled since it came out last year, it's now called "Popular". Weird rename, but whatever.

I wanted to give the polish a little more color, since Starry Pink is a little too washed out for me, so I did two coats of Starry Pink over two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Lacey Lilac. And for funsies I added a layer of Orly Love Each Other, which was a total disappointment. I can't really see it, but maybe you can see it in the macro?

This layering bubbled like crazy, but it didn't really hurt the aesthetic too much. My favorite part of Starry Pink is the way it makes the silver glitter and hex glitter look almost more dull and white, which makes it such a pretty, soft, dainty look! Love :)
