Happy Mardi Gras! (and day off for me!)

After a ridiculously stressful couple of weeks, I finally have a couple days off! I wanted to do something fun, so I kind of just grabbed a couple polishes at random. The first I applied was Claire's Cotton Candy scented nail polish. In the bottle it looks like a neon turquoise with a blue flash, with holographic glitter. Unfortunately, the pigmented base of the polish compleeetely covers the holo glitter. So what did I do? I ADDED a holo glitter gradient using, Nicole by  OPI Make a Comet ment. And then for Mardi Gras bling I added Wet n Wild Correction Tape from last year's On the Prowl collection. And a thick coat of Seche Vite.

I really like this, the turquoise doesn't go too green on me (which I hate) and the blue flash really brightens it up. Kinda love it!

Glitterrrr on mah naaaiiiils makes me happyyyyy.

Blue Claire's Magnetix

I showed you all the pink magnetic polish from Claire's the other day, now I have the blue one to show you! This was actually my Valentine's Day mani. The pics I have here are just of the polish on its own, but I had added a heart glitter topcoat and some Seche Vite. The combo totally smudged the design, and blurred the wavy goodness. So I would definitely recommend leaving this polish to dry on its own, like a holo, topcoat kills the good times.

Also, the brush on these polishes is terrible, every one I looked at at my local Claire's was bent and wonky. My mom was appalled that I was opening the bottles, but I really wanted a decent brush! So applying this polish was kind of a game, trying to keep the polish from covering my whole finger. This swatch is two coats, holding the magnet about 15 seconds. No topcoat!

OPI Save me layered

I'm watching all the Smallville seasons again, and what's more appropriate that a "Save Me" themed mani? OPI Save me is a gorgeous polish, but very silvery. And I'm not really a silver-loving gal. So I layered one coat of Save Me over two coats of Sephora By OPI's Skinny Jeans. Skinny Jeans had a pretty dusty blue color with a green almost frosty flash, nice enough formula. Save Me was pretty easy for me to work with. It spread nicely and when one of the bar glitters would poke over the free edge of my nail I would just tap it down with my finger. This polish has silver micro glitter, small silver square glitter and blue and silver holographic bar glitter. Prettyyyy. Definitely click to view the larger size of the pic.

And then I added a no-name Claire's glitter that came in a five-pack for $10. Reminds me a little of a holographic Connect the Dots.

I like.
